At Paws & Kisses we believe
good dogs deserve quality care…

…and every dog is a good dog

The Mindset Behind Our Services

For a lot of people, finding a trustworthy, dependable, talented and kind pet professional seems like a tall order, if not a near impossible ask. Paws & Kisses was founded to make it easy by raising the bar.

We developed a three-tiered approach to working with dogs derived from the understanding that if you can build a strong enough bond with a dog, they will be willing to do almost anything for you, just as you would for them.

When it comes down to it, we are trainers first. That’s why we integrate the following principles into every service whether it’s walking, pet-sitting, or dog training:

#1: Bonding

Our number one focus for training and even pet care support are known bond-building activities: structured walks, teaching/learning new skills, and instinct care. Whether a sitting or training client, this bond building is essential if we want to build the trust it takes to overcome fear-inducing triggers and have a relaxed and enjoyable time together.

#2: Boundaries

Our secondary focus is on boundary setting. Just like setting boundaries in human relationships, boundary-setting with dogs takes skill, clarity, and patience, which is why it’s key for pet sitters and trainers alike to know what they are doing here. A skilled trainer or sitter knows that if done properly, good boundary setting will lead to a fulfilling sense of trust and understanding between you and your canine loved one.

#3: Stimulation

Our third focus is stimulation management. Again, much like their human counterparts, dogs have varying needs of stimulation, and striking the sweet spot is what allows them to thrive. Both boredom and overstimulation can cause a lot of stress and behavioral issues, so having a sitter and/or trainer who is well aware of this is key to a successful training or sitting relationship.

Meet the Founder

Meet the Founder

After a decade in the industry, Taylor Dahnert created Paws & Kisses to help people who want the best for the canine members of their family.

In 2013, Taylor became a certified dog trainer so that she could learn how to properly train her own dog, Duke, who was a rescue with a lot of insecurities.

As she began working with more and more dogs and trainers, she became adept at behavior modification in fearful and reactive pets, and soon lent her talent to the Seattle chapter of the Humane Society.

Even as she explored other career paths, Taylor always remained a pet-sitter and volunteered throughout the years so she could keep her skills sharp and continue working with beloved animals.

Over time, word of her training history and skill spread, and demand for her dog training services shifted her to full time pet services, including setting up Paws & Kisses for house-sitting, drop-ins, structured walks, and bespoke dog training and classes.
